Thanks for the annual JDHS Talent Show

Posted: Sunday, April 19, 2009

A folk festival of a different sort happened Friday and Saturday evening at the Juneau-Douglas High School. Hip-hop, solo, duet, barbershop, acoustic, rock, south pacific islanders, anime, fantasy and garbage can drummers. Those were some of the acts represented by JDHS students at their annual Talent Show - a smorgasbord of youthful, exuberant talent.

They were all entertaining and inspiring. It's not easy to get on stage, but they did, and they delivered. It was a pleasure to see the youth of Juneau sharing in such a personal, joyous way. As with any folk festival I was impressed by the courage and talent that comes out of the woodwork of self motivation. Thank you to the performers and administrators who support such an effort and the audience that is so important to every performer.
