Nebraska company wins Fort Wainwright barracks bid

FAIRBANKS - An Omaha, Neb., company has been awarded a $38 million contract to design and build a 276-person barracks on Fort Wainwright.

Kiewit Building Group was one of four firms to bid on the job.

The barracks will serve the 16th Aviation Combat Brigade, which has 1,400 soldiers and more than 60 helicopters.

The U.S. Army expects the barracks to be finished by January 2012.
