Man killed in standoff had air pistol

ANCHORAGE - Anchorage police say the man killed in a standoff earlier this week had an air pistol.

They reported Wednesday that they shot and killed an armed man during an hour-long standoff at an Anchorage apartment.

Officers said they felt threatened by 48-year-old Joseph Gannon, who refused to let in authorities responding to a call that a woman in the apartment was not breathing.
