Former Juneau resident Carol Catherine (Kito) Shold died April 11, 2010, in Houston, Texas, with family by her side. She was 64.
Born Feb. 23, 1946, in Petersburg, to Saburo S. Kito and Amelia O. Kito, she lived most of her life in Fairbanks and Sitka. She loved long phone conversations with family and friends. She also loved to admire and garden flowers.
She will be remembered by many friends and family for her humorous nature, they said. What she cherished most was spending time with her only grandson, Logan, for the last five years while residing in Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Harry Kito.
She is survived by her son, Darren Kito and partner, Bonnie Ganatta, of Fairbanks; daughter and son-in-law, Rachael and James Cannon II, and their son, Logan Cannon, of Cypress, Texas; brothers and sister-in-law, John and Vivian Kito, of Anchorage, and Sam Kito Jr., of Sultan, Wash.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Ski Musewski, of Petersburg, and Amelia June and Steve Gage, of Sitka; and many loved nieces and nephews across Alaska and the Lower 48.
Graveside services are planned for 3 p.m. Friday, April 23, in Petersburg, followed by a reception at 6 p.m. at the Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall.
