JUNEAU - For the last six years, the Juneau Education Support Staff (JESS) has contributed between $1,800 and $2,000 to the school district's breakfast programs in area schools.
JESS members, which include vocations from custodians and paraprofessionals to administrative support and school nurses, often is the first to interact with students in the morning as they arrive at school. The group's goal is to ensure kids begin the day with a full stomach.
Some schools will serve as many as 50 students who arrived hungry. The breakfasts include a variety of food including oatmeal, waffles, cereal, milk and juice.
