Northern Lights defeated defending champion Whitehorse 3-2 to drink from the trophy cup for the first time since the inception of the tournament in 2007. The Northern Lights topped Peggy's Pounders 3-2 in barn-burner fashion with the first goal coming on a Dan Teske score off of a beautiful pass to the slot by Sheehan. This goal was matched by one from Whitehorse's Justin Quigley off a Brian Douglas pass. Juneau's Matt Boline scored a goal going top shelf, knocking off Whitehorse goalie Ian Perrier's water bottle, for Juneau's second goal off a pass from Dave Kovach in the nuetral zone. Again, Peggy's Pounders bounced back with a Dale Bomic goal off a Quigley pass in front of the net. Finally, Sheehan put the game away when he netted his goal with four minutes left after an assist from Kovach and Chris Siddon. The Northern Lights held on and played strong defense for the remainder of the game, and Juneau's Garret Cheesman faced 33 shots in the game with a 94 percent save percentage and two goals against. Perrier faced 36 shots with a 92 percent save percentage and three goals against for Whitehorse.
