Girl Scouts give thanks Saturday

Girl Scout Leader's Day is scheduled Saturday, with scouts in Southeast Alaska planning to say thank you to scout leaders, volunteers and others who have made a difference in their lives.

The day was designated nationwide by Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. For more information on volunteering for the Tongass Alaska Girl Scout Council call 586-1710.

Teleconference focuses on trauma

A teleconference dealing with death, serious illness, divorce and other traumatic events is scheduled Wednesday at the University of Alaska Southeast.

The Foundation of America's National Bereavement Teleconference will be hosted by Cokie Roberts. The first part of the presentation will be broadcast from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the university's library media services room. The second part will be shown from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in room HB113.

Lecture on asthma planned at Bartlett

Dr. Thad Wood of Anchorage will speak about ``Environmental Control for Asthma and Allergies - Where to Put Your Money'' at the Asthma and Allergy Support Group at 6 p.m. Monday at Bartlett Regional Hospital's second-floor board room in the administration building.
