Posted: Friday, April 21, 2006

Age: 10.

Sound off on the important issues at

Grade: 4.

School: Auke Bay Elementary School.

Art of choice: Drama.

Experience: One year.

Motivation: "Thinking that one day doing art - that it could be my job - really fires me up."

Favorite artists: Leonardo DaVinci; "all types" of music, including alternative and country; authors, Lemony Snicket, Ian Colfer and Emily Rodda.

Future plans: She wants to be an archaeologist, actor and pro soccer player.

Activities: Juneau Soccer Club, Auke Bay Ropers, karate and Battle of the Books.

Wacky art: She believes wacky art would be making a picture of someone using popsicle sticks.

You should know: She has taught herself to play three instruments: recorder, harmonica and guitar.

Her teacher, Ann Boochever, says: "Callie is highly motivated. Her audition for our play included a monologue from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." She didn't have any help from home. She found the piece in our library and memorized it all on her own. Her delivery was terrific. She has also shown to be dependable and responsible. When given a deadline for memorizing lives, she always meets it. She has never missed a rehearsal and is always right on time. In addition, she is a good team player. Callie always supports other members of the cast and tries to help out when possible."

Recent gig: She played the part of Grandma Edna in the recent production of the Tlingit legend, Frog Woman, last night at Auke Bay Elementary School.
