JUNEAU - SERRC, Alaska's Educational Resource Center, provides dozens of statewide programs to improve student achievement. The agency's Career Connection program brings high school students from around the state to Juneau for weekly sessions to explore careers and job shadow at a variety of work sites. Career Connections' April session is comprised of high school students from Aleutians East, Chatham, and Lower Yukon School Districts.
To support this program, Fred Meyer Corporate recently donated $5,000 to defray travel costs of participating school districts and an additional $5,000 to purchase computers for a statewide workforce development program.
SERRC is a nonprofit agency that provides educational solutions and services from Metlakatla to Barrow. The agency employs 100 staff members that work out of the agency's offices in Anchorage and Juneau.
