Alaska Food Worker Cards from 2007 expiring

Posted: Wednesday, April 21, 2010

JUNEAU - The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation reminds food workers to check the expiration date on their Food Worker Card.

Food Worker Cards are good for three years. Those issued in 2007 expire this year.

The State of Alaska requires that all food workers, except those in the municipality of Anchorage, which issues its own card, take a state sponsored food safety test before handling food served to the public. The test is offered online or in-person. It covers basic safe food practices. Those who pass the test are issued a Food Worker Card. Online training, the test and card are free.
