JUNEAU - Mining and the allied industries that help make the base economy tick in Southeast Alaska have pledge slightly over $25,000 to United Way of Southeast Alaska this year.

"We are extremely grateful to our longtime partners Alaska Marine Lines/Lynden Transportation and NC Machinery for their continued support but this year new campaigns and significantly increased donations from CMI Construction, Greens Creek, Coastal Helicopters and Coeur Alaska have really helped to make the campaign successful this year," said Lance Stevens, 2009 Campaign Chair.

There are 94 corporations and organizations that have workplace giving campaigns in Southeast Alaska. When matched with individual gifts and donations it placed the campaign total over the $400,000 mark this year.

"Coeur Alaska appreciates this opportunity to give back to the community," said Tom Henderson, who also sits on the board of directors of United Way of Southeast Alaska. "This is where our employees live and we care about the community. We are pleased to be part of an organization that does so much for those in Southeast.
