Alaska 'bear man' TV series begins

ANCHORAGE - Alaska's so-called bear man, Charlie Vandergaw, is featured in a six-episode series being aired on Animal Planet.

The series began Friday with the premiere, which repeats at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Vandergaw is a retired Anchorage teacher who has spent more than 20 summers living with wild bears at his remote cabin in the Yentna River drainage.
