FAIRBANKS - A Fort Wainwright soldier who fired a bullet into an apartment ceiling has accepted a plea deal that will allow him to remain in the Army.

Manuel Zamora pleaded guilty Tuesday to fourth-degree weapons misconduct and was sentenced to 45 days in jail.

Fairbanks police were called to the apartment complex Jan. 23 after a woman complained she was nearly hit by a bullet shot through the floor.

The 22-year-old Zamora declined to speak at the sentencing.
