ANCHORAGE - A 49-year-old man is in custody after an altercation with Anchorage police led to shots fired by an officer.

Andrew Moore sustained a non-life-threatening wound to his arm in the incident early Wednesday.

Police say the encounter began when Moore refused to pull over for a traffic stop and began eluding officers.

According to police, officers tried to block Moore's van after it stopped on a dead end street, but he rammed a patrol car and then sped off.

The van stopped when it veered off the road. Police say shots were fired by an approaching officer when the vehicle started moving again.

The van took off, but police ultimately caught up with Moore. Lt. Dave Parker says arrest charges are pending.

Police say the officer is on a three-day administrative leave and the incident is under investigation.
