Juneau resident Linda Stevenson-Millard died April 12, 2010, at her home. She was 58.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, her family said.
Born Oct. 4, 1951, in Hinsdale, Ill., she graduated from Lions Township High School in La Grange, Ill., in 1969. She received bachelors and masters degrees in social work from the University of Kansas in Lawrence in 1973 and 1981 respectively.
She moved to Alaska in 1981 and to Juneau in 1986. She was a longtime social worker and director of social services at Bartlett Regional Hospital until her retirement in 2007. In 2002, she was awarded Southeast Region Alaska Social Worker of the year by the Alaska Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
She continued to be involved with social and charitable organizations following her retirement.
She is preceded in death by her father, Derrill Stevenson; mother, Eleanor Stevenson; and brother, Jim Stevenson.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Millard; daughters, Meghan Millard and Erica Roguska; and grandchildren, Bailey Roguska and Asher Roguska.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. May 22 at the Thane Ore House. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Hospice and Home Care of Juneau.
