JUNEAU - Juneau Youth Sailing has begun online registration for the groups summer 2010 classes.
Lessons include basic water and boating safety, and the safe handling of a sailing dinghy. Student need only to bring their own life jackets.
JYS classes are for beginners to advanced sailors, ages 10 to18, and are given in half-day lessons for two weeks at a time.
A few adult weekend classes are also offered.
Juneau Youth Sailing is a nonprofit corporation started in Juneau in 1997 to open up youth sailing activities in Juneau. JYS is a member of U.S. Sailing, the sanctioning body for Olympic sailing in the United States. To register online for classes and for more information, visit www.juneauyouthsailinginc.org.
