Indoor shooting range reopens
The Juneau Indoor Shooting Range reopened April 23.
The public shooting hours are: 5:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, and 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. For more information, call 586-4101.
The range is at 5670 Montana Creek Road.
Fish & Game staffers receive awards
Juneau - Two Alaska Department of Fish and Game staff were honored during the Alaska Outdoor Council Annual Awards Banquet held April 9, in Anchorage. Matt Robus, Director of the Division of Wildlife Conservation, received the Wildlife Biologist of the Year Award. Tina Cunning, special assistant to the commissioner on state-federal issues, received the Sydney Huntington Award.
Director Matt Robus received recognition for his strong commitment to state management of sustainable wildlife populations.
The AOC Sydney Huntington Award, presented to Tina Cunning, is reserved for acknowledging exemplary performance and is rarely given. She has worked for more than two decades pursuing and upholding Alaska's management authority of fish, wildlife, and waterways, as well as the public's access to hunt and fish as provided under the Alaska National Interest Land Conservation Act.

State offers course for bowhunters
Juneau - The Alaska Deptartment of Fish and Game offers a mandatory certification course for all "archery only" hunts from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., April 30, at 2760 Sherwood Lane, Suite 2C.
Participants are required to bring their own bows, arrows and target or filled points for the shooting portion. Advance registration is required. For more information and to register, call 465-4265.
