Bills introduced last week:

• Hate crimes: Senate Bill 181 would punish individuals causing injury because of the victim's race, gender, sexual orientation, ancestry etc.

• Mental health: Senate Bill 184 would allow mental health patients to choose the gender of the caretaker.

• Transportation projects: House Bill 275 would authorize financing for transportation projects in Fairbanks and Anchorage.

• Ethics regulations: Senate Bills 186 and 187 would set guidelines for public employees holding investments in companies involved with state contracts.

Bills voted on last week:

• ANWR grant: House Bill 32 appropriates funds towards promoting gas and oil exploration in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
