KETCHIKAN - The Ketchikan City Council has voted to negotiate a deal with a firm to conduct a financial analysis of the city-owned Ketchikan Public Utilities Telecommunications Division.
The council is considering selling the utility and wants to know how much it's worth.
It wants to have Denver-based Falkenberg Capital Corp. do the financial analysis.
The Telecommunications Division includes local telephone, Internet and television services.
With GCI recently entering the local telephone market, the division faces direct competition.
Even if the council voted to sell the telecommunications division, it still would be up to city voters to finalize such a sale.
