The Zach Gordon Youth Center's 26th annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 3 was yet another immensely enjoyable occasion that saw more than 400 Juneau youngsters collect their share of more than 6,000 candy-filled eggs and go home with of a special bag of toy prizes (marvelously put together by ZGYC employee Donny Burras) as an extra treat for each of them.
The egg hunt went off without a hitch thanks to the tremendously appreciated contributions from the following individuals who generously volunteered their time and effort to see to it that all of the youth left our event with great big grins on their faces! Kudos to: ZGYC youth patrons Tuey Bean, Miffy James, Adriana Nelson and Wayne Nelson for their assistance with hiding the eggs; Keith Peeples at TMHS for providing tables to set up our event; Capt. Karl Marx, Squadron Commander Ken Nestler and Cadets Russadell Buzard, Renier Cava, Alexander Glass, Austin Hales, Noe Hernandez, Chattam Holt, Myles Kiefer and Trever Stafford of the Civil Air Patrol for their excellent coordination/operation in directing traffic at the TMHS parking lots; Melissa Skan and SAGA staff members Kristy Burt, Christy O'Brien, Lawrence Place, April Rebert, Adam Trunzo and Megan Welch for their variety of help with event registration, egg hiding and prize bag distribution and Orion Krauss for kindly agreeing to be our costumed Easter Bunny mascot.
We would also like to give thanks to Joyce Kitka and Mimi Mesdag, at Community Schools, for allowing us to use the comfortably warm and dry commons area at Thunder Mountain High School as a convenient gathering spot for the egg hunt registration and prize bag hand-out. Thank you once again to all of you - as well as to anyone else whose name we might've unfortunately missed.
We could not hold this community event without your volunteer efforts. Happy Spring!
