Three cheers for the Legislature for closing the Fish and Game initiative loophole.
The initiative process was a underhanded way to circumvent the state Fish and Game Department's responsibility to manage our wildlife. After all, who knows more about managing wildlife, an experienced biologist or an unexperienced housewife?
It was also a cheap way to circumvent the local Fish and Game Advisory Board process. It's a grass-roots political process that was specifically created for an individual to have a voice in Fish and Game matters. It has worked for me twice; once to close an area to bear hunting and once to change air-boat hunting regulations.
