End of paper trail

Posted: Thursday, April 26, 2001

The Mendenhall Flying Lions Club and Gastineau Humane Services Corp. regretfully announce the end of their paper recycling project due to factors beyond their control. Effective immediately, the drop-off sites at Fred Meyer and A&P stores are closed and all paper pickups will cease on April 30. We are investigating other options, including working with another nonprofit group to continue this public service. The best case scenario will still mean that this service will not be available for a period of time. Unfortunately at this time we don't know how long that will be or if it will occur at all. Currently newspapers can be recycled at the CBJ-sponsored recycling center at the Waste Management site and we encourage everyone to use this resource. Unfortunately there will be no white paper recycling at this time. The Lions Club and GHS would like to thank all those who have supported this project and to let you know we are making every effort to get it up and running again. Thank you for your patience.
