JUNEAU - Capital City Fire Rescue firefighters will participate in an annual "Fill the Boot" fundraiser to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, at tentative locations in Juneau: the Mendenhall Mall, Costco and the Cruise Ship Terminal, downtown near the Mount Roberts Tramway.
Motorists may drop their dollars and change in the Fire Fighters' boots at several locations in the Mendenhall Valley area. On Saturday and Sunday, the Capital City Fire Fighters will join forces to collect money for MDA-Alaska.
Last year during the "Fill the Boot" program, Fire Fighters raised more than $5,000 for area children and adults living with any one of more than 40 neuromuscular diseases.
The money raised during the "Fill the Boot" campaign helps provide services to families in Southeast Alaska and throughout the state. Services include helping to send children to summer camp, provide clinical services, assist in the purchase of medical equipment and ultimately find cures for the more than 40 different muscle wasting diseases covered by the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
