Due to a reporter's error, an April 20 article in the Empire misstated the cost of having voters decide on a ballot question on whether to ban smoking in all public places in Juneau. That mistake was repeated in a Sunday editorial. The exact cost of adding that ballot question is uncertain because it would be part of general expenses during a regular election, according to the city clerk. However, the cost would be well below the amount of $35,000 - the cost of a special election - stated in the article and editorial.

Due to a reporter's error, an article in Monday's paper misstated that St. Vincent de Paul's local adult education program was cut by $50,000. Instead, the Southeast Regional Resource Center took a $50,000 cut to its state Department of Labor regional adult education grant in fiscal year 2004.
