Left-lane cruising may be psychological

Posted: Monday, April 27, 2009

With regard to Thursday's letter about Juneau drivers' love of left-lane cruising, the problem may be one of psychology. The signs say "slower traffic keep right."

No one wants to think of themselves as "slower traffic," especially when they are doing every bit of the speed limit in good conditions, minus five miles per hour if it's raining, and another five if it's getting dark. Maybe we could get the Department of Transportation to re-letter the signs to say "left lane for passing only" instead.
