FAIRBANKS - School bus drivers in Fairbanks have voted for representation in contract talks by the Teamsters Union.

Workers at the First Student bus company late last week voted by a 5-1 margin to unionize.

Teamsters will represent more than 200 drivers, attendants and mechanics who operate and maintain buses for the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District.

Alaska Teamsters President Rick Boyles said the vote was 154-30.

First Student is a national company with 61,000 employees, according to its Web site
