ANCHORAGE - A woman and small child were found dead Monday morning inside a south Anchorage home along with a severely injured man, Anchorage police said.
Lt. Dave Parker said officers are treating the scene near 100th Avenue and Old Seward Highway as a homicide.
The deaths were first reported by KTUU-TV.
Parker confirmed that initial reports said the woman and child were shot. That has not been confirmed, he said.
"That was at first blush what we heard," he said.
None of the three have been positively identified.
Parker said the home on William Jones Circle had been rented to a member of the military who had not shown up for work "for some time."
Military police went to the home Monday morning, and when no one responded, contacted the apartment manager.
Inside the apartment, they found the dead woman and child and summoned Anchorage police at 7:30 a.m.
Police officers found the severely injured man in another room, Parker said.
"That person was transported immediately to the hospital," Parker said. The nature of the man's injuries, and how he got them, was not immediately known, Parker said.
Without confirmation of the identities, Parker said, he could not say whether the dead woman or injured man were members of the military or whether they had rented the apartment.
"We're still awaiting positive identification and that kind of thing," he said.
