Christian, Freer to be honored Saturday
JUNEAU -Perseverance Thea-tre will hold its annual Bishop's Bash, a spring fundraiser dinner in honor of the late Bishop Michael Kenny, at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Thane Ore House.
The evening includes an all-you-can-eat salmon and halibut dinner from 6 to 8 p.m., an auction (desserts to plane tickets to trips) and a dance featuring DJ Psyience.
The theater will also present the Bishop Kenny Awards, awarded annually for artistic achievement and long-term, volunteer commitment to the theater.
Ed Christian, a Perseverance actor since the early 1980s and a regular with Theatre in the Rough and Juneau-Douglas Little Theatre, will receive the Bishop Kenny Award for Artistic Achievement. Peter Freer, a longtime actor, prop designer, production manager and board member, will receive the volunteering honor.
Both will be honored at 6:30, before they star in Theatre in the Rough's 8 p.m. production of "Richard III" at McPhetres Hall.

KTOO wants art for its hallways
JUNEAU -KTOO is asking artists to submit work to be exhibited in its hallways.
The public radio station, at 360 Egan Drive, is seeking photography, paintings, beadwork, quilts, or anything, for monthly exhibitions in its halls. Interested artists should call Jeff Brown at 463-6425.
Port Townsend juried show needs entries
JUNEAU -The Port Town-send Arts Commission and Jefferson Arts Alliance are seeking entries for "Expressions Northwest," the Seventh Annual Art Port Townsend (Wash.) Juried Art Competition in October.
Two- and three-dimensional work, including photography, is eligible. A total of $2,600 in cash will be awarded, and merchandise will also be given away.
This year's juror is Esther Luttikhuizen, collections manager and director of the Kittredge Gallery at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash. Luttikhuizen has curated shows for galleries, alternative art spaces, universities and nonprofit special events.
Artists must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska or British Columbia. A nonrefundable entry fee of $25 is required for a maximum of three slide entries per artist.
