ANCHORAGE - Two people reported missing on a snowmobile trip have been found safe near Bethel.
Michael and Rebecca Wier ran out of gas and were found by searchers Saturday night.
The Weirs were supposed to arrive in Bethel by Friday night after traveling from Kwigillingok to Kongiganak and Tuntutuliak.
Alaska State Troopers said Michael Weir, a teacher, had provided a fellow teacher with his itinerary and the couple was carrying survival gear.
Trooper and Civil Air Patrol aircraft set out Saturday but had to be recalled because of poor visibility.
A ground search included teams from Eek, Nunapitchuk, Kipnuk and Kasigluk.
