SEATTLE - A 16-year-old boy from Ketchikan was held without bail Sunday after being charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 6-week-old baby.
Seattle police chased and arrested Josh S. Rowden early Saturday after a relative of the baby called police.
On Friday, Rowden tried to escape the questions of visiting Ketchikan police by jumping from the second-story window of a downtown Seattle building, said Seattle police. He landed with minor injuries from the 20- to 25-foot fall - and ran away.
The baby boy died Saturday morning at Children's Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle, 11 days after Leah Fackrell, 18, brought her baby to Ketchikan General Hospital. The baby was found to have bruising and brain injuries, and was flown to the Seattle hospital where medical personnel discovered he also had multiple fractures.
Doctors said his injuries were consistent with physical abuse, Ketchikan police said.
