JUNEAU - A 47-year-old female Juneau resident was punched in the face while in her car Monday on Egan Drive, according to the police.

The woman was merging from the Fred Meyer access road at about 11:45 a.m. when 50-year-old Juneau resident Michael Shakespeare drove his 1996 Ford truck around the woman's car and abruptly stopped in front of her. Shakespeare then got out of his vehicle, walked to the woman's car and punched her in the head through the open driver's side window, according to a police report.

At the time, two plain-clothed Juneau Police Department detectives were driving behind the woman and witnessed the scene.

Shakespeare was immediately placed under arrest for assault and reckless driving. He was lodged in the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. The female driver did not require medical attention after being punched.
