Former Gov. Knowles appointed to national board

ANCHORAGE - Former Alaska Gov. Tony Knowles has been appointed to the National Park System Advisory Board.

Knowles was among 12 people appointed to the panel by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar on Tuesday.

The board members, who will serve four-year terms, advise the Interior secretary and director of the National Park Service on matters connected to the Service's work.

The appointees represent nine states.
