Anchorage Assemblywoman running for Senate

ANCHORAGE - South Anchorage Assemblywoman Jennifer Johnston filed her intent Tuesday to run for the state Senate seat held by Con Bunde, who is not seeking re-election.

The Anchorage Daily News reports Johnston will face Cathy Giessel and Mark Moronell in the Aug. 24 Republican primary for District P.

Janet Reiser is running as a Democrat.

The Senate has 20 members elected for four-year terms, with half of the members standing for election every two years.
