Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:
Police arrested Hersey Mitchell, 18, at 1:43 p.m. Wednesday on a felony charge of fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and possessing a weapon on school grounds near Glacier Avenue. Police lodged him at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
Police arrested Kawika Kelihoomalu on an outstanding warrant charging him with second-degree forgery, fraud and third-degree theft. They lodged him at the state prison.
At 4:29 p.m. Wednesday, a black compact disc case was reported stolen from a Chevrolet pickup truck that was rifled the previous night near Lakeview Court in the Mendenhall Valley. A Mazda pickup truck also was reported rifled from the scene, but nothing was reported taken.
Police arrested a girl, 13, on a shoplifting charge at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday near West Willoughby Avenue. They released the girl to her parents.
At 9:09 a.m. Thursday, a woman reported the theft of a black and red purse sometime the previous night from her vehicle near Mountainside Drive in the Lemon Creek area. The purse held a wallet and a Nokia cellular telephone.
A blue inflatable raft valued at $3,000 was reported stolen at 9:35 a.m. Thursday near Lena Point.
A woman reported at 10:14 a.m. Thursday that her son's Redline Proline bicycle was stolen the previous night near Mountainwood Drive in the Mendenhall Valley. The bike was valued at $400.
A 1987 Toyota pickup truck, driven by a woman, 23, reportedly rolled into a ditch after the clutch was accidentally popped at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday at the 12.5 mile point of Glacier Highway. A 1989 Toyota sport utility vehicle was struck and sustained about $150 in the incident.
Hit and run:
At 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, a vehicle reportedly left the scene after running into a Front Street building. Damage to the building was estimated at $1,500.
At 8:54 a.m. Thursday, a woman reported that an unknown vehicle reportedly struck her 1994 Ford Taurus near Skater's Cabin in the Mendenhall Valley. The back window and tailgate were reported damaged.
Police stopped a man, 36, at 9:32 a.m. Thursday on a charge of driving with studded tires in the 4700 block of Glacier Highway. Police lodged him at the state prison after arresting him on an outstanding warrant issued in Craig to revoke his probation for a fourth-degree assault conviction.
Police arrested a boy, 17, on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and interfering with police at 10:07 a.m. near Parks and Spruce streets. They released him to his parents.
A man reported at 11:10 a.m. Thursday that he lost his brown leather wallet in the Mendenhall Valley.
At 3:49 p.m. Wednesday, two hand-held VHF radios reportedly found near Seward Street were turned over to police for safekeeping.
A children's blue and yellow Magna bicycle was turned over to police at 2:15 a.m. Thursday after it was reportedly found in Rotary Park.
Police received three reports around 1:10 p.m. Wednesday of a bear wandering through the Basin Road area. At 2:46 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported that a sow and two cubs were wandering in the area of the Flume Trail near Basin Road. Police also took a report at 1:37 a.m. Thursday of a bear getting into a trash container and running off into the woods near Glendale Street in the Mendenhall Valley.
