Auke Village Campground to open for the season

The Juneau Ranger District will open the Auke Village Campground for the season at 2 p.m. May 1.

The campground operates on a first-come, first-served, no-reservation system. The cost is $8 per night.

The Mendenhall Campground will not open until July 20 due to road construction. For more information, call 586-8800.

Parking ordinances to go into effect May 1

Downtown parking ordinances will go into effect May 1 for the summer season.

There are loading zones along South Franklin and Front streets used for freight loading from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and can be used the remainder of the day for one-hour public parking. Yellow pavement markings and signs will separate these from regular loading zones. Curbs painted yellow indicate no parking any time or permanent loading zones when signs are present. The 15-minute parking areas on South Franklin and Front streets will remain.

Please check signs carefully before leaving your vehicle, do not block driveways and leave at least 10 feet on both sides of crosswalks.

For questions, contact Michael Scott at 586-5256.
