If you have been waiting for the perrrfect cat to come into your life, now is the time to head on down to the Gastineau Humane Society, which has almost 30 cats, top right. Whether you are looking for a friend who is big, small, mature, young, fluffy, sleek, mellow or sassy, you're sure to fall in love with someone.

Trapper, top left, was found on the side of the road holding a sign that said "will knead for love." OK, so that part is made up, but once you get to know Trapper you will be able to imagine the scene. He is a playful and affectionate 1-year-old cat in need of a home.

What do brushes, hugs and laser lights all have in common? They are all on Merry's list of favorite things. Merry, bottom left, is a 5-year-old gray-and-white cat with medium hair. He has a light-hearted playful side, and he gets along with kids and other cats quite well.

Patches, bottom right, is so laid back you could even call her "chill." She is a beautiful spayed 6-year-old Siamese mix with blue eyes that are bright enough to remind you of the sunshine, even on the grayest Juneau day. Patches is looking for a home and someone to love her at the Gastineau Humane Society.

Visiting hours at the Gastineau Humane Society are from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday.
