Former Hoonah and Juneau resident Jennifer Louise Fawcett died April 8, 2010, in her Anchorage home. She was 62.
Born Nov. 22, 1947, in Hoonah to Dorothy (Marvin) Johnson and Charles P. Fawcett, her Tlingit name was Sht Oox' Aat and she was Raven moiety of the Yeil Kudee Hit (Raven Nest House) and a Wooshkeetaan Yadi.
Some of her favorite pastimes included knitting, fishing and playing bingo. She loved spending time with her family. She attended Hoonah public schools. After meeting the father of her children, she moved up to Anchorage, where they made their home.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Silas and Lilly Dalton; parents, Dorothy (Marvin) Johnson and Charles P. Fawcett; brothers, Nick Fawcett Sr., Frank Fawcett Sr., George Marvin and Peter Marvin; sister, Diana Fawcett and auntie, Ruth (Dalton).
She is survived by her children, William Charles Bray and Charlie Newman Jr., of Anchorage, Christopher Williams, of Juneau, Carolee Newman, of Anchorage, and Tammy Lynn Hilton, of Ohio; sisters, Lillian Marvin and Mary Ann Flake, of Juneau; brothers, Peter Marvin, of Juneau, and Alper Johnson, of Ketchikan; tribal brothers, Samuel Willard Sr., Browne Willard, of Juneau, and Larry Willard, of Ketchikan; tribal sisters, Arlene Jewell and Francine Koenig, of Hoonah; and nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers are James Jack Sr., Joe Tagaban, Mike Tagaban, Showalter Martin, Garvin Martin and Dennis Gray Sr.
Honorary pallbearers are Carolyn Martin, Alfred McKinley, Harvey Marvin and Danny Flake.
A funeral service was held April 17 at the Tlingit & Haida Community Council Building.
