Amount taken in bank robbery released
JUNEAU - The U.S. Attorney's office in Anchorage has released the amount of money stolen in the April 24 robbery at the Alaska Pacific Bank's downtown branch.
"It was about $1,850," said Stephan Collins, an attorney in that office. "Not worth doing five years for. Bank robbery is not the smartest crime."
James Louis Gregory Shales, 20, a Juneau resident, has been charged with the crime. He has prior convictions for theft. Shales is being held at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
