Juneau-Douglas High School track and field -- The Crimson Bears host the Juneau Invitational, throws and jumps start at 2:30 p.m. with other events to follow at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park track.

Juneau Freewheelers Bicycle Club -- False Outer Point Time Trial: Meet at 5:30 p.m. at False Outer Point parking lot on North Douglas Highway for 10-plus-mile race starting at 6:30 p.m. Racers compete against the clock, leaving the starting line in 30-second intervals. Race fee is $5, plus racers must have a Juneau Freewheelers season pass ($10 individuals, $15 families) and a U.S. Cycling Federation competition license ($5 day pass, $45 season pass). Juneau Freewheelers Bicycle Club -- Dimond Park Mountain Bike Race postponed: Event scheduled for Saturday has been postponed for one or two weeks because of construction project status at Dimond Park. Race fee is $5, plus racers must have a Juneau Freewheelers season pass ($10 individuals, $15 families) and a U.S. Cycling Federation competition license ($5 day pass, $45 season pass). May Bike Rides -- Meet at Lena Point picnic area at 4 p.m. for a recreational ride to the Amalga Harbor and back. Helmets are required. Info: Bill Johnson, 789-9095.

Juneau Alpine Club meeting -- Monthly meeting is at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, at the home of Kim and Barb Turley, 1136 Slim Williams Way. Info: Kim and Barb Turley, 789-7058.

Juneau Racquet Club running group -- Meet at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting on May 1 at the Valley location of Juneau Racquet Club for beginning running workouts. All participants must be able to walk/run for 30 minutes. Registration is necessary. Info: Caro Rosier-Polley, 789-2181.

4-H Youth Running Program Thursday runs -- Meet at 5 p.m. at location TBA each Thursday through the summer. The program is for runners in grades K-5. Meet at Sandy Beach picnic area on May 3, at Rotary Park on May 10, at Cope Park on May 17, at Mendenhall Glacier visitor's center on May 24 and at Riverbend covered play area on May 31. Gastineau Channel Little League scorekeepers' workshop -- Meet from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, at location TBA. The workshop will be led by Cindy Fairchild and Bonnie Lanz. Augustus G. Brown Pool springboard diving clinic -- This class meets from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 8-22, at the Augustus G. Brown Pool. The clinic teaches basic competitive springboard diving skills, concentrating on front and back approaches. Students must be comfortable diving off the low diving board. Info: Augustus G. Kluane-Chilkat International Bicycle Relay packets available -- Entry packets for the Ninth Annual Kluane to Chilkat International Bicycle Relay will be available in Juneau at Mountain Gears, Foggy Mountain Shop and the valley Juneau Racquet Club by April 20. The 156-mile relay is held on Saturday, June 16. It starts in Haines Junction, Yukon Territory, and ends in Haines, Alaska, and is for teams of one, two, four and eight riders. Application forms are also available on the Internet at http://www.hainesak.com/bikerelay/. The entry fee is $34 per rider, which includes a t-shirt, post-race dinner and awards breakfast. Adult soccer scrimmages -- Open scrimmages for adults age 18 and older are being held from 5-7 p.m. every Sunday through June 24 at the Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park football field. For more information, contact the Capital City Soccer League, 364-2503.

Only Fools Run at Night volunteers search -- Volunteers are needed to help with this Muscular Dystrophy Association of Alaska fund-raising event held from 7 p.m. to midnight on Friday, June 22, at Centennial Hall. Open Gyms

Youth open gyms -- From 8-11 p.m. on Saturdays (5/5) at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School, and from 8-11 p.m. on Fridays (5/4) at Floyd Dryden Middle School. No cost for students grades 5-12. Info: Community Schools, 463-1700, Ext. 325.
