Juneau resident Georgian Ruth Heins died peacefully April 29, 2008, at her home at Wildflower Court. She was 91.
She lived in Seattle, where she worked for Star Machinery.
According to her family, she loved playing golf and bowling. She was on various bowling leagues and loved to travel, they said.
In 1985, she took early retirement and moved to Tenakee Springs to help care for her sister's ailing husband, Dermott O'Toole.
Family said she enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing cards with her brother, Louis Heins, and other friends and family members, while visiting with many friends and family. Her family said she will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to meet her.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Heins, of Las Vegas; and sisters, Peggy Brown, of Bremerton, Wash., Dorothy O'Toole, of Tenakee Springs, Martha Stephens, of Juneau, and Lucille Foss, of Spokane, Wash.
She is survived by her brother, Louis Heins, of Juneau; brother-in-law, Raymond Foss, of Spokane; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. on May 2 at the Alaskan Memorial Park and Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wildflower Court in her memory.
