Title and firm: Owner, Lisa Davidson's Boutique
Services: The store provides professional and quality clothing for women. It also carries women's accessories including shoes, jewelry, hats, bags and scarves.
Biographical information: Born and raised in Juneau, Ryals started the boutique with her former business partner David Mallott in 1995. For her share of the start-up cost, the 21 year-old entrepreneur used her Permanent Fund dividends, which her parents had invested over the years. Originally, the store was located in the Mendenhall Mall. Within a year, the boutique doubled its size and Ryals expanded into another boutique at Merchant's Wharf downtown. Due to the long hours of working at two locations, she closed the downtown store and focused on the shop in the mall. Last July, Ryals moved the store from its valley location to the heart of downtown. In January, she bought her partner's share of the business and is now the sole owner of the store. The boutique's name is a combination of Ryals' and her former partner's first name.
Family: Ryals is single.
Notable: Ryals credits her relaxed sales style for the store's strong customer base, which includes men who buy presents for their spouses and girlfriends.
Quotable: ``Women should be comfortable as well as looking good. The store focuses on simple, classic pieces that can build a wardrobe that will last 10 years. Plus, some accessories to add some creativity.''
Employees: Just herself.
