Juneau lifters post PRs in Anchorage

Five Juneau lifters scored numerous personal records and trophies at the USA Powerlifting Alaska State Championships in Anchorage last Saturday.

Ben Woods tallied 1,394.25 pounds, a PR, to claim second place in the 198-pound open class. Woods squatted 540 pounds, benched 330.5, both PRs, and deadlifted 523.5.

John Falls competed in the 220-pound open class, and totalled 1,421.75 pounds (529 squat, 347 bench, 545.5 deadlift), all PRs.

Buck Woods' total of 1,019.25 was a personal record, and good for second place in the 181-pound open class and third in the men's masters category. Woods also earned PRs in the squat (363.75) and bench (286.5). He deadlifted 429 pounds.

Jamie Bursell notched four PRs in the 148-pound women's class, lifting a total of 639 pounds (225.75, 154.25, 259).

And 16-year-old Bucky Lingle was named Best Lifter among teen boys in his first meet. Lingle placed second in the 275-pound men's open division with a total of 1,019.25 pounds (402.25, 203.75, 413.25). All lifts were personal bests.
