Lund to be honored
Ethel Lund, retired president of SEARHC, will be recognized with an honorary doctor of humanities degree at the University of Alaska Anchorage on Sunday, May 6. The ceremony will start at 4 p.m.
Blessing of the Fleet
The annual Blessing of the Fleet and Dedication of Names will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 5, at the Alaska Commercial Fishermen's Memorial, near the tram.
Vessels participating in the blessing should gather in front of the memorial next to the Taku Smokeries icehouse and tune to VHF Channel 10 for directions. Flowers will be available to lay on the water or the memorial.
The Twisted Fish Restaurant will host a Community reception immediately following the Blessing. Call 463-5566 or 586-5230.
Asthma and allergy
The Asthma and Allergy Support Group will meet at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 3, in the Bartlett Regional Hospital Administration Building, 2nd floor board room.
Dr. Charles Jackson will discuss severe asthma episodes in a talk titled: "Severe Asthma: Update on Risk Factors and Optimal Management." Everyone is invited to attend the free event.

Nurse aide class
The University of Alaska Southeast, Juneau Campus, will be offering a Certified Nurse Aide class beginning May 22.
Financial aid is available for students able to work after their training in a a health care facility in Juneau.

Nominations for the City and Borough of Juneau's Historic Resources Advisory Committee Historic Preservation Awards are being accepted from the public.
The awards are designed to recognize projects that have made significant contributions to historic preservation in the Juneau area and will be given out in four categories: Private Residences, Commercial Buildings, Public Buildings and Sites or Structures.
The deadline for receipt of nominations is May 14. Nominating forms can be obtained from the CBJ Community Development Department at the Permit Center on the 4th floor of the Marine View Building, or online at www.juneau.org/history.
