Juneau police, fire officials, hospital officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

Shortly before 4 a.m. today, police responded to the report of a disturbance at Super 8 Motel on Trout Street. The report alleged that a man who left in a vehicle was intoxicated. Police located and arrested Travis Merculief, 22, while he was driving a 1993 Ford Explorer for driving while intoxicated. He was also charged with refusal of a breath test and transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

Thefts, lost/found items:

A woman reported about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday that her Sony digital camera was stolen while she was at the air show over the weekend.

A woman, 44, reported from 9000 Glacier Highway about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday that she had found a red men's bicycle.

A caller reported from the Capitol parking lot shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday that a black Discman CD player and 35 to 40 compact discs were stolen from a parked vehicle.

About 8 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the Lynn Canal fire station to pick up a set of abandoned tires. The citizen who found them believed them to be stolen. They were placed in safekeeping.

Assault:

A woman reported about 9 a.m. Wednesday that a man was hitting a woman on Franklin Street. A man, 47, was arrested for domestic violence assault and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. His victim, age unknown, was left in the care of an employee of Juneau Recovery Hospital who also responded to the scene. Alcohol was involved in the incident.

Drugs:

Police cited two 17-year-olds, a boy and a girl, about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cope Park for marijuana possession. Both were released to guardians.

Vehicle accidents:

Police responded about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday to an accident on Glacier Highway involving a vehicle and a motorcycle. A 1998 Ford Taurus received about $700 damage. Its driver, a man, 37, was cited for making an illegal u-turn. The 1992 Harley MC suffered about $1,000 damage. Its driver, a man, 44, was not injured.

Vandalism:

A woman, 33, reported about 10 a.m. Wednesday from Fred Meyer that someone had vandalized her vehicle by scratching it with what appears to have been a key. Approximate damage was $500.

Animal encounters:

Police responded about 7 p.m. Wednesday to a report of an injured beaver on the beach. Fish and Game also responded to the scene.

About 6 a.m. Thursday, motorists reported two deer on Egan Drive near the McNugget intersection. Officers were able to coax the buck and doe back into the woods.

Fires:

Capital City Fire & Rescue responded to the report of a car fire about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant in the Mendenhall Valley. The fire had been put out with a portable extinguisher before firefighters arrived. They then cooled the engine of the AMC Eagle with water. Foreign material in the engine compartment ignited some wires, said a fire lieutenant.

Other:

Police conducted a traffic stop about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on Egan Drive outbound. They cited a man, 32, for driving with a revoked license and then released him. The vehicle was impounded.

A man, 23, was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sandy Beach on one outstanding Alaska State Trooper warrant and one outstanding JPD warrant, both failure to appear on charges. He was also cited for noncompliance with a sentence. He was lodged at state prison.

Shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to a report from an inn on Glacier Highway and arrested a man, 44, on an outstanding JPD warrant for failure to comply with a sentence. He was transported to and lodged at state prison.

An ambulance was called after a baby delivered at home had problems breathing Wednesday. The baby was resuscitated and taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital. He was later medevaced to Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage after he developed fluid in his lungs for reasons apparently unconnected to his earlier breathing problems, the midwife said.
