Greta Thibodeau scored two goals to lead the Juneau-Douglas High School girls soccer team to a 6-1 victory over Bartlett on Friday in Anchorage to close out a two-game road trip.
The Juneau boys tied Chugiak, 2-2, to finish their trip.
The Crimson Bear girls (8-0-1) also got goals from Nicole Lupro, Olena Lundquist, Kendri Cesar and Callan Janowiec. Bartlett scored on a long lob while Juneau's goalkeeper was playing up the field.
"We had quite a few set pieces - corners - that were very dangerous," Juneau co-coach Colin Barton said. Janowiec's goal came off a corner kick.
For the boys, all the game's scoring came in the first half as the teams traded goals. Chugiak scored first, but Juneau (6-3-1) answered when Axel Thibodeau headed in a Lee Sullivan corner kick in the seventh minute. Chugiak scored again seven minutes later, and Juneau answered in the 30th minute when Hiroto Yanagisawa fed a ball to Sullivan for the score.
Juneau coach Gary Lehnhart said the Crimson Bears did a good job a creating scoring chances, but trouble finishing. He said Thibodeau, Alex Sadighi and Kalon Wright all had good games for Juneau.
Both teams travel to Anchorage again later this week.
