... for supporting JDHS track and field
This year's Glacier 10K and 1 Mile Run/Walk was a huge success. The JDHS track and field team would like to thank all the businesses, sponsors, and runners/walkers who made this event possible.
Thank you to our race sponsors Play It Again Sports, Elgee Rehfeld Mertz Certified Public Accountants, Medi-Spa, and JRC-The Alaska Club. Costco and Fred Meyer were also very generous in their food donations. A special thanks goes out to Southeast Road Runners for allowing us to put this race on every year.
Thank you to Karen Dinnan, Nancy Krehlik, Rosary Lombardo, Michael Jordan, Matt Knutson and Alan Rogers for registering runners, compiling results, and course set-up and take down.
With your support, we were able to raise $2,500.
... re-naming the "Readiness Center"
I want to thank the Assembly for approving Resolution 2306.
"A resolution requesting that the Army National Guard name the new National Guard Readiness Center after Donald W. Sperl and Charles F. Gamble, Jr.".
These two Juneau-Douglas High School graduates honorably served our country, and died in the Vietnam War.
The resolution directs the City and Borough to respectfully request that the U.S. Army National Guard and University of Alaska Southeast (who will share the facility) honor these two Juneau men by supporting the name recognition.
Let's back our assembly by letting National Guard and University officials know that Don and Charles, names belong here, not just on the "wall."
