Organization description: Project Playground is a Juneau based community project to custom build a large playground with multiple climbing structures, slides, swings and other features. It will be built within the city's centrally located Twin Lakes park and will include a community theme with an ice castle, fishing boat, mine cars and local art. The playground, which will cover more than 20,000 square feet, will be the largest in Juneau and a major play destination for the entire community. Volunteers guided by experts from Leathers Associates of Ithaca, New York are scheduled to build the playground May 15-19 and May 22-26.

Volunteer opportunities: Volunteers are needed to build the new playground at Twin Lakes May 15-19 and May 22-26. Volunteers can be skilled or unskilled to help with the construction. Help is needed for child care, sitting at the volunteer sign-in table, and runners (especially for youth age 14-17). Volunteers who are certified in First Aid are also needed during construction. Tools are needed to build the playground and will be returned in the same condition or better. Volunteer on our Web site at or call Catherine Pusich at 780-4525.
