ANCHORAGE - It may not be the New York Philharmonic, but it will be big.

More than 2,000 Anchorage sixth-grade beginning band and orchestra students will gather Thursday night to play their instruments in the 14th annual Sonic Boom! performance at the Sullivan Arena.

The gathering is Alaska's largest concert.

Admission is free. Thousands of parents, families and community members are expected to attend.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. The performance will include selections such as Beethoven's "Ode to Joy."
