FAIRBANKS - A biologist at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is predicting trees around the interior town will bud early this year.
Biologist Eugenie Euskirchen said May 1, 1995 was the earliest leaf out in her records.
She said that if temperatures has dropped Friday, this spring have broken that record.
But she said just one warm day is all that's needed to turn the area green.
Euskirchen checks the trees near her house, but she turns to Ted Fathauer with the National Weather Service to determine the exact budding day.
