Bethel voting on alcohol sales

Posted: Wednesday, May 05, 2010

BETHEL - Voting is under way in Bethel as city residents again decide the question of alcohol sales.

In October, voters in the city of 5,600 opted to remove the community's 32-year-old "damp" status that prohibited alcohol sales and limited imports.

A yes vote in Tuesday's special election undoes that result and places additional restrictions on alcohol importation.

A no vote keeps alcohol unrestricted.

The election was called after a successful signature petition was submitted to the city.

Voting began at 8 a.m. and continues until at 8 p.m.
